Canon PowerShot SX1 IS E-mail
Written by InsideHW
Wednesday, 15 April 2009

Canon PowerShot SX1 IS was presented first time at Photokina 2008 along side with its younger brother SX10 IS both successors of very popular Canon S5 IS camera. Both models have 20x optical zoom (28-560mm) but model SX1 instead CCD has CMOS sensor and support for recording of video in Full HD resolution. This feature sets Canon PowerShot SX1 IS apart from all other cameras at this moment.

Camera is packed into quality built plastics chassis, very compact, which is not big surprise since Canon categorized this camera as Digital Compact Camera. With rounded edges is looks like some compact dSLR camera but heritage of Canon S5 IS model is obvious. Lens chassis is made out of aluminum and as confirmation of built quality can serve you the fact that Canon PowerShot SX1 IS is heavier than Canon EOS 450D dSLR camera for about 100 grams. Grip, although deep enough, it is not wide enough so there may be some problems with ergonomics if you have bigger hands. InsideHW

Inno3D GeForce GTX 275 OC 896M E-mail

NVIDIA's latest card on the graphics market right now is the GeForce GTX 275. Like all other GTX 2xx cards it is based on NVIDIA's GT200 GPU. While it doesn't bring anything new technology wise. It still has interesting specs: It is basically half a GTX 295 running at 633 / 1134 / 1404 MHz (core/memory/shader). You can see it as a GeForce GTX 285 with a 448-bit memory interface, or you could see it as a GTX 260 with 240 shaders and higher clocks. For their GeForce GTX 275 OC, Inno3D went with a P897 based design and simply increased the core, shader and memory clocks. techPowerUp!

Xigmatek Thor's Hammer CPU Cooler E-mail

Xigmatek Thor's Hammer CPU Cooler Review

At this year's CES I was walking around the upper deck looking for the entrance to the exhibit halls I glanced over to my right and I saw a good friend of mine, Olin Coles from Benchmark Reviews. He was sitting with a gentleman I did not know. So, I figured I would go over and say 'hi' to my good friend before my trip to the exhibit floor. As I greeted Olin and this gentleman I notice this sweet CPU cooler sitting on the table in front of them. The cooler was awesome and extreme at the same time. Immediately, I had to introduce myself to this gentleman so I can get my myself one of these coolers. The gentlemen was Antonio from Xigmatek. He was pretty cool, gave me a business card and begun to walk to floor before we got separated. A few months after we have that cooler here in our lab today.

The cooler was the Xigmatek Thor's Hammer. The Hammer is one of those coolers that when you first see it you could not but think how does this thing compete with the big boys like the Coolermaster V8 and Thermalright T.R.U.E. Well that is what I thought anyways. And to think about how well the HDT-S1283 has done at a budget price you would think this monster would be a Top Ten cooler killer. The Hammer is based on the Heat pipe Direct Touch, or HDT for short, technology. To explain this in a brief sentence, the heat pipes come in direct contact with the IHS of the processor for more direct cooling. We will get more into that later in the review. So, you have to read a little more to see what this cooler and HDT is all about. Pro-Clockers
