XTracGear Ripper XXL Overview
So the XTracGear Ripper XXL lies in a category of very affordable mouse mats, at just $19.95. We have clearly seen mouse pads that are 1/4 the size of the Ripper XXL sell for twice the price. But does that mean that the Ripper XXL is worse than other mouse pads?
Let’s start with something we do not usually talk about but we belief deserves an honorable mention for this product. The packaging is far beyond that of any other mouse pad at this price point, it features a very firm carton box that is surrounded by a very soft plastic print, giving it the feeling of something you would expect from a really expensive product.
Edge fraying has been a problem for many cloth surface mouse pads but a close up picture of the edges reveals that the XTracGear Ripper XXL not only offers a clean laser cut with no overlaps but they also singed and cauterized the edges leaving no space for fraying. Our previous XTracGear mouse pads have lasted longer than most of our hardware, just an example of how serious XTracGear is about their products.
On the bottom we find the same rubber backing featured in other XTracGear products. At first, the huge amount of rubber did produce an odor that was not very pleasant but after a few hours after our unboxing the odor went away. The mouse pad grips really well to most surfaces including glass, perfect for those aggressive gamers.
At the top we find a surface that XTracGear calls “Polished Textile”. We will be testing it in the next section. It should be noted that cleaning it is a bit of a task as a regular rag won’t do the job, it is easier to just use one of those sticky rolls.
